Home(less) for the Holidays
At Gateway Homeless Services, our work is straight forward and compelling. Provide safe, nurturing emergency shelter to homeless women, children and families in need, and help to "re-house" them as quickly as possible. With your help we can serve those in need while working to prevent chronic homelessness. Our vision is a safe, nurturing home for all. We want everyone to be able to say, "there is no place like home".
On behalf of Co-Chairmen Michael McMillan, License Collector of the City of St. Louis, and Michael Stokes, member of the Board of Directors of Gateway Homeless Services, we invite you to join us at our 2008 Home(less) for the Holidays gala on Saturday, November 22, 2008 at the Hyatt at the Riverfront. 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $150 per person. Ad book pages are $600 full and $300 half pages.
All residents of the shelter will experience a special day of attention and care as they prepare to attend the event also. Attendees can bring their children at no extra cost to join the children of the shelter in their Kiddie Gala, which takes place along side the main gala.
Home(less) for the Holidays is a celebratory event that supports Gateway Homeless Services while also calling our community to recognize the need of those who are homeless. As we celebrate the holidays with our families, let us remember those who are in need.
We invite you to be a part of our dinner committee. Please call India Gray at 314-231-1515, or email igray@gatewayhomeless.org, to let her know how you can support us during the holiday season.
Gateway's Treasure Chest
On Saturday, May 31, Gateway Homeless Services will sponsor its first Yard Sale called Gateway's Treasure Chest. This is a collection of items donated to the agency that are not being used in client services. We look forward to a great opportunity to "clean out our basement" and sell items at a reasonable cost to community people who wish to support our services. You'll find collectibles, books, clothing, shoes, furniture and other knick knacks. Come early! 7am - 2 pm. Proceeds benefit the services of the shelter. We hope to see you there!
Back-to-School Campaign
Our annual Back-to-School Campaign is an on-going program. For the 2008-2009 school year we began collecting school supplies for homeless children in the St. Louis bi-state area July 12-August 10, 2008. This year's sponsors included Dierbergs Markets, select YMCA facilities, Ameren UE and the Saint Louis Science Center. This year's campaign was a huge success. Special thanks to Laura, Carole and the Dierbergs Markets for all their support, the Saint Louis Science Center, Stephanie at Ameren UE and all of the individual contributors who helped supply our shelter's youth with supplies, clothes and shoes for school.
Kids Caring 4 Kids
Together with Cooperating School Districts, KMOV Channel 4 and 106.5 The Arch, Gateway sponsors, collects and distributes items received through the annual Kids Caring 4 Kids Christmas toy drive and can food/non-perishables activity. This will ensure that the children of Gateway Homeless Services and other shelters will have a happy and safe holiday season.
To all sponsors and contributors Gateway Homeless Services and friends sincerely thanks you for your continued support of the Kids Caring 4 Kids annual toy and food drive to help homeless and needy kids.
