Our OrganizationGateway Homeless Services is the largest and most comprehensive emergency shelter in Missouri. Gateway provides 110 beds, and more than 100 lunches per day, to homeless people. It serves homeless women and children and at-risk families with programs such as: - A family emergency shelter that operates on a 24-hour basis for single women and families, and places more than 50 of them in permanent housing each year.
- Adult educational services including classes related to computers, sewing, nutrition and fitness, budgeting, hygiene, cooking, and basic life skills.
- Youth tutoring, child-care, computer literacy, and a Montessori program for literacy and education that has a long-term goal of ending generational homelessness.
Food distribution is directed to those in the shelter, those placed in permanent housing, senior citizens and working poor. Gateway also directs an annual collection of personal hygiene items and a collection of school supplies for homeless and at-risk children. Our TeamMartin J. Rafanan, Executive Director India L.
