Volunteering At Gateway

"The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others."  --Mahatma Gandhi

Providing leadership through volunteer service at Gateway is a wonderful way to support Gateway's important mission to provide safe, nurturing emergency shelter services that empower homeless people to move into transitional housing!

The opportunity to serve others and to be the recipient of service and education in return makes us all partners at Gateway.  Clients, staff, volunteers work together to move people into transitional and permanent housing.  Each person has a role, and each person can help to support folks in their role.  Our outcome can be jointly achieved, and that outcome is for each person and family in our shelter to move into a home.

If you are seeking to be a volunteer at Gateway, you will need to watch, listen, learn, and grow in your understanding of homelessness and your personal role in ending it.

Here is a slideshow about Gateway's mission:    Gateway Slideshow

Volunteer service at Gateway is geared to our primary mission to empower homeless women and children to move into transitional and permanent housing.  Since our staff is extremely busy, all volunteer relationships are developed through our Resource Development Director, Jenn Gauthier-Lyke.  Please email her at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
