A Word from the Executive Director |
|
Gateway Homeless Services is the largest 24-hour shelter for women, children and families in Missouri. 40% of our budget is provided by compassionate donors who seek to use their dollars pragmatically to end homelessness in St.. Louis. Your contribution supports:
A 24-hour family emergency shelter for single women and families. Gateway places more than 300 women and children into transitional or permanent housing each year.
Adult educational and support programs that empower homeless people to take responsibility for moving into transitional or permanent housing.
Services designed specifically for children and youth including tutoring, childcare, computer literacy and other educational opportunities.
A food distribution effort to shelter residents, former residents who are in permanent housing, senior citizens and working poor individuals.
Annual collection of personal hygiene items and school supplies for homeless and at-risk children.
A large contribution to overall planning to end Homelessness within the St. Louis Region by focusing on helping families in crisis keep the housing that they already have, moving families out of emergency shelters and into permanent housing as quickly as possible, understanding families needs and linking them to targeted services, and collecting and sharing data to improve program management and planning.
We need your gift today. With your help, we can continue to serve the many homeless children, women and families in the Bi-State Region, helping them to move from homelessness to independence. Please donate on line or send a check to Gateway, 1000 N 19th St, St. Louis, 63106 or call 314-546-9684 and Jenn Gauthier-Lyke will arrange for your gift! Sincerely, Martin Rafanan |

Gateway Homeless Services - Shelter Makeovers
The Gateway Homeless Services building is the old Polish Community Center of St. Stanislaus Koska. The building is over ninety years old and for 25 years, it has been open round the clock every day of the year to house over 100 homeless women and children each day. The building gets very hard use and we must constantly clean and maintain it. Shelter "Makeovers" are a very important part of our work, and volunteers really help us to get this important job done. We need all spaces in the building cleaned and "made-over" at least once per year, sometimes more.
For more information on this prograM, please email Jennifer Gauthier-Lyke at
